Some time ago my friend Rodrigo J. Lopez (@RodrigoJLopez) started to write a short film, just recently he finished filming it and embarked in the process of editing the film with the help of music video producer and film maker Vassili Shields (@vassilishields). I have been lucky to help him with a few things, there is a lot of work to do so for now here is the official trailer to get a sense of what this movie will be looking like in the near future. For this particular part Rodrigo and I worked on the audio mixing and sound design for the trailer using protools amongst other cheap tricks 😉 kind of like a first trial at what awaits us for the whole film. we used some stock music, audio from set and some special effects here and there to create the atmosphere, get your headphones or a good set of speakers and turn it up!! any mobile device speakers will not do justice to it. For the final film we will do the same thing except we will write a custom score. Exciting!!

What is this? “At Dawn” is an independent production by Rodrigo J Lopez a coworker and friend of mine, this is just a small taste of what is to come. With the Script almost ready, the casting done and a lot of drive from Rodrigo, Evan, Dave, Vassili and the rest of us who support the project now is the moment to raise funds to start production, below you will find the links to the Facebook page, the official website and how to suport the production. Que es esto? se preguntan ustedes, bueno “At Dawn” es una producción independiente de mi compañero de trabajo y amigo Rodrigo J. Lopez, esto es una pequena muestra de lo que esta por venir. Yesterday a couple of friends (Jason and Luis) and I went to the Boston ICA to test Neoscape’s new toy, the Dynamic perception dolly (dynamicperception.com). It is a great and simple tool to expand on your creative photography arsenal, there are many possibilities to use it and it also requires some practice to get something good looking (excuse why mine are not that good….yet!). The cloud time lapse was a very simple one done in 30 min with a continuos move my 7D and a 15mm fish eye lens, there was a lot of wind so it was easy to get the clouds moving. The second one is of my house fire place and it was a bit more complicated to shoot, what I was trying to do was calculate how many photos I had to shoot in 3 hours and travel the 6 feet of the dolly (the time the log more or less lasts on fire) so that I could get the log form the time it was lit to the time the fire went out, for this one I used the 7D and a 50mm lens and in a different mode where the dolly shoots, moves, stops and wait for the camera to save the image then shoots again and so on. Both ended up OK looking but ultimately they are just tests, hopefully we will use this at work more and in more creative ways.

Hace mucho que no subo nada de trabajo en 3D, pues pensé que como ya se me ha pasado mucho el tiempo voy a empezar de nuevo con una animación que creo es el principio de una faceta en la que me he enfocado en animar camaras y la composición de la imagen (fotografÃa). Este proyecto fue la perfecta combinación para poder hacer lo que fuera con el trabajo de fotografÃa, el proyecto lo hicimos para un joven arquitecto que estaba compitiendo para desarrollar una exhibición en MoMA NY la cual se lleva a cabo cada año, y pues como la estábamos haciendo ¨pro bono¨ pues pude hacer básicamente lo que fuera pero con un presupuesto bajo. Asà pues me concentre en hacer el trabajo en 3D bien simple, y poner el mayor esfuerzo en experimentar con la cámara, edición y composición dando paso a el trabajo de cámara de animaciones mas complejas como Airport stories y Arrivals que hicimos como trabajo interno a manera de experimento en Neoscape (vean el área de Film en mi blog donde están esas dos animaciones), la siguientes animaciones creo son resultado de la aplicación de estos experimentos en algunos de los proyectos que hemos hecho para Safdie Architects recientemente.
